About IMG ENGINE
IMG ENGINE is an independent, free toolbox for everyday image tasks — compressing, resizing, cropping, converting and editing — built to run as much as possible directly in your browser. There's no mandatory sign-up and no paywall on the core tools.
Privacy-first
Most tools use the Canvas API to process images locally. Your files aren't uploaded unless a tool explicitly requires server-side processing.
Modern engine
Built with Next.js, TypeScript and the Canvas, PDF.js and WebAssembly-adjacent browser APIs for fast, reliable processing.
Extensible
A handful of advanced tools (background removal, AI upscaling, URL screenshots) plug into a configurable server API so any operator can bring their own provider.
How processing works
Every tool page shows a badge near the top telling you exactly how it works: “Processed locally in your browser” means your file is never transmitted anywhere. “Uses a configurable server API” means the tool calls a server endpoint that the site operator wires up to a third-party provider using environment variables — see our privacy policy for details.
