Local-first processing

The majority of tools on IMG ENGINE — including Compress Image, Resize Image, Crop Image, Convert to/from JPG, Photo Editor, Watermark, Meme Generator, Rotate Image, Blur Face, Add Text, Image to PDF, PDF to JPG, GIF Maker and the Metadata Viewer — run entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and client-side JavaScript libraries. Your image files are never uploaded to our servers or any third party when using these tools.

Tools that use a server API

A small number of tools — Remove Background, the AI mode of Upscale Image, and the “Render a URL” mode of HTML to Image — require server-side processing because the underlying technology (large ML models or headless browser rendering) cannot run in a web page. These tools are clearly labeled “Uses a configurable server API”, and the image you submit is sent only to the configured third-party provider for processing, then returned to you. We do not use these images for any purpose beyond fulfilling your request, and we do not permanently store them on our infrastructure.

Cookies and analytics

IMG ENGINE does not require cookies to function. Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to us.
